Shared Trails along the M-DT

<<Home

Along it's 200 mile length the Mason-Dixon Trail shares or is co-alligned with many other trails. Some of these trails were present before the M-DT was built. Some came along afterwards. You can use our M-DT Distance Calculator to get a better idea where on the trail these co-locations are. The mileage markers given are based on the 2016 M-DT map sets:

198.1-199.4 Co-alligned with the Brandywine Trail for the final 1.3 miles before the M-DT eastern terminous at Chadds Ford, PA.

This is more of an historical note. Between the early 1980's and the early 1990's the Mason-Dixon Trail used to be co-alligned with the Brandywine Trail between Chadds Ford, PA and Ludwigs Corner, PA, a distance of about 30 miles. However, the M-DT eastern terminous was moved to Chadds Ford, PA sometime in the early 1990's. We believe the reason for this move was that the Brandywine Trail was threatened by closure from the private property land owners that it passed through. This trail is now only open once a year for an end to end hike, once a year for an end to end ride and once a year for maintenance.
